Position Description
Unimacts is looking for a Plant Superintendent for its Las Vegas, Nevada operations. Our employees are “industrial business athletes” and can be effective in many roles, the key responsibility of this person is to both lead and where needed take a “hands on” active role in the development of our US plant and local supply chain capabilities. The Las Vegas plant is a start-up operation so we look for all team members to work together and be flexible to ensure the plant is successful. The Plant Superintendent supervises and coordinates team member activities in all phases of the plant operations. The Plant Superintendent will utilize operational metrics to analyze productivity, identify issues and achieve production goals.
Responsibilities
- Collaborating with the Plant Manager, develop and implement all plant policies and achieve all objectives and coordinate for various production and maintenance programs.
- Prepare outline for policies and programs and implement same and maintain environmental health and safety for all production activities.
- Prepare all paperwork and reports for all plant activities and assist all supervisors to oversee all activities of production employees and evaluate all plant requirements.
- Ensure compliance to all company policies and regulations and administer everyday activities of all plant team members.
- Develop and maintain an effective and trust worthy work environment all times.
- Hire and train all shift supervisors and provide support to all plant manager activities.
- Collaborate with plant manager to recommend all operational improvements to processes and facilitate reduction in cost and ensure efficiency of all programs and adhere to all safety programs according to Federal and State regulations.
Requirements and Skills:

- Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office and Quality Management software.
- Excellent communication skills, bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
- Sense of urgency and drive to respond to problems and establish systems to minimize either planned or unplanned disruptions of manufacturing.
- Measurement of performance to company goals and standards and establishment of targets for improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery and employee relations.
- Employee training and development.
- Technical skills in materials and inventory management, production scheduling, and preventive maintenance.
- The ability to meet the physical demands of the job, such as standing up for long hours and lifting heavy loads occasionally.
Qualifications
- BS Engineering Degree, preferred.
- Experience in Steel or heavy industrial Industry preferred.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement required.
- Ability to lead from experience – demonstrate forklift skills, support manufacturing operations, etc.
- Experience working with a control quality system (i.e., ISO9001) preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated Strong commitment and leadership in safety systems.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to plan priorities effectively, including capital planning, production scheduling, maintenance planning and 5 year planning.
- Proficient in mentoring, training, and development of colleagues with both operational and technical backgrounds.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) for coordination, training, and reporting.
- Able to utilize independent judgement to solve problems, have excellent organizational skills to effectively handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and strive for continuous improvement and high expectations for direct reports.
- Ability to achieve and track excellence using performance driven metrics leveraging Performance Excellence or similar continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, TPS.
- Microsoft Office.
